Ms. Chanel (WenChu) Yang

 

      Wen-Chu (Chanel) Yang was born in Taiwan, and raised in Los Angeles, CA, where her started hers training for dance while in Taiwan. In 2006 Wen-Chu received her Master of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreograph from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) under Doug Nielsen, Laurence Blake, Tina Young and many others. She is a technically proficient and innovative dance choreographer, performer, educator, and creative artist. Consistent with her interdisciplinary approach, she uses a variety of artistic media in her work, including painting, installation, short films and photography. She enjoys crossing boundaries, melding one technique and idea with another.

While at CalArts, Wen-Chu was an Assistant Technical Director of the Dance Theater; at the beginning of 2006, she became an instructor of stage management. Early in 2006, she was invited as the cameraman to record live performances of the world renowned Joes Limon Dance Company in Los Angeles Music Center. She was selected by World Dance Alliance-Asia Pacific as one of eight choreographers from all over the world to produce a work for the 2006 Asia Young Choreography Projects in Taiwan. She was also invited as both a special guest choreographer and performer for the CalArts Dance Ensemble. Her choreography has been shown in Taiwan and throughout LA and NY at venues such as REDCAT, HIGHWAYS, Electric Lodge, Elephant Stageworks and Matthaton Performance Art Center, etc.

      Wen-Chu has been teaching to all ages at numerous institutions since 1998, from pre-schools to universities and dancing studios throughout Taiwan and U.S. In 2010 she became Shining Star Dance Academy’s director. She has dedicated herself to recruiting talented students to share her teach with San Gabriel Valley’s community. Her Students were invited and performed as Pasadena Dance Festival, communities and many of organizations. She specializes in Contemporary, Modern, Ballet, Chinese Classical Dance, Yoga and Pilates (Mat).

Jermone Andrw Moore

( Hip Hop Instructor )

 

    I have been dancing and performing from a very young age. I was dancing at family functions and show at school. I was part of a break dancing crew and I also member of a hip hop dance group when I was a kid. As I got older I started dancing and performing in a dance touring company in college call Dance Etc. I started teaching dance shortly after that. I have been teaching Hip Hop dance for over 15 years in the Orange county area. I have dance experience in teaching kids and teen/adults. I also dance and perform for numerous TV shows like MTV, The Grind, Soul Train, American Band Stand, and Dance 360 competition show where I won first place. I also dance and perform in theatre arts shows like The Nutcracker and Gotta Dance 1,2., and I have taught numerous competition dance groups that have competed in shows in Las Vegas and the OC area.

Frances Wong

(Guess Teacher) 

 

          Frances Wong graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A in Dance and minors in Digital Arts and Education.  She has over 6 years of experience in teaching dance to students of all ages. She currently teaches in several dance studios throughout Los Angeles County.
